What is God’s purpose with mankind and the earth all about?
God is a God of pattern or themes. He has declared perfectly in
the verse below, the most important and consistent theme developed
throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.
“But as truly as I live all the earth shall be filled with the glory
of the LORD.” Numbers 14:21
But what is God’s glory? And how is He going to fill the earth with it? How
does the work, word and willing sacrifice of God’s son, Jesus Christ, fit
into all this? And what must we do to participate in God’s purpose through
Jesus Christ? Does it matter how well we understand the answers to these questions?
“And those who know Your name will put their trust in You...”
Psalm 9:10
Many people might think God’s glory is His power in Creation, or a demonstration
of his righteous judgment. Though those things certainly are an appropriate reflection
of God’s “kindness and severity” (Romans 1:20; 11:22), God’s glory is far more
significant and exciting to understand than this. In fact, it’s a matter of eternal
life or death to actually know what God is declaring to His creation.
Do you know God?
“This is eternal life, that they may KNOW You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ
whom You have sent.” John 17:3
The word “know” in the original Greek is “ginosko” and means "to
come to know, recognize,
perceive.” Jesus is praying for his disciples to be given a true and deep comprehension
of who God is, His will and how Jesus fulfills God’s
“purpose of the ages” (Ephesians 3:11).
Throughout the Bible, God has declared how this understanding comes to a person (Romans 10:17; 1 Timothy 4:13-16;
2 Timothy 2:15; Isaiah 50:4; Proverbs 25:2; 1 John 5).
Jesus teaches, "It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing..." John 6:63
Though written down by many different people, there is not ONE description of Jesus’
physical appearance in the entire Bible? Why not? The answer lies in understanding what
God’s glory is and how it is manifested in Jesus Christ, and all his true disciples.

Whether you are a believer or not, God lovingly in truth reminds us, “You are just a vapor that appears for a little while
and then vanishes away” (James 4:14). Now is the time for all of us to lay aside our temporal
and empty distractions in life, and to come to the knowledge of God’s Master Plan,
as taught in His word, the Bible.
